You're Welcome

Brief description/aims of the group:

Background to You’re Welcome

All young people are entitled to receive appropriate health care wherever they access it. The You’re Welcome quality criteria set out principles that will help health services both in the community and in hospitals, to ‘get it right’ and become young people friendly. Services in all primary care trust areas need to take young people’s needs into account (Department of Health 2007:2).

In order to demonstrate that they meet the You’re Welcome quality criteria, health service providers are required to show evidence of young people’s active participation of young people aged 11 - 19.
NHS County Durham & NHS Darlington (formerly Co. Durham & Darlington PCT) have worked in partnership with Investing in Children and young people to support services to achieve You're Welcome & Investing in Children membership.

Location of work:

Over the last three years young people have supported health services across County Durham & Darlington to make changes to ensure the service they provide is more young people friendly.
