Transport group

Brief Description/Aims of the Group:

The Transport Group was set up to improve transport for children and young people across County Durham.

Through various Agenda days held across the County, it was identified by children and young peoples that their issues to do with transport are around:

Location of work: County Wide

Meeting Times and Dates: Unfortunately due to the current financial cuts the transport group meetings are currently on hold.

However if you have any issues regarding transport in County Durham please get in touch with Ellie.

Work to Date:  Over the past year the Transport Group at IiC have been working to improve transport for children and young people across the County. They have been involved in raising the profile of transport issues through the bus companies and with Durham County Council. As a result they have been involved in shaping things like the new Driver Training programmes with Arriva and doing mystery shopping on local bus services.

The group were involved in having a say in Durham County Councils Transport Strategy.

Young people have also been trained by Arriva to mystery shop their services so that issues are highlighted and changes are made as a result.
