NYAS (National Youth Advocacy Service)
Brief Description/Aims of the Group:
The National Youth Advocacy Service provide a confidential and independant advice and support service to children and young people who recieve services from Durham County Council. There are many different reasons why a child or young person may want an advocate i.e Decisions are being made about your life which you are not happy with, you feel like you need someone to attend a meeting with you to help you share your views, you want to make a complaint, you want some independant advice, you want more contact with your family etc.
Location of work:
A NYAS advocate will meet you wherever is best for you be that at your home, at school or in a different venue.
Meeting Times and Dates:
The advocate will meet you on a day which suits you and at a time which suits you.
Work to Date:
NYAS have worked with Durham County Council for the children and young people of Durham for the last 13 years. During this time they have worked with hundreds of children and young people supporting them to have a voice and a better say in the decisions which affect their lives.
