Staff Development Training

Investing in Children has a programme of training which it delivers to partners and organisations including the Development Agency.

The overall purpose of the staff development training is to create a greater understanding of the issues faced by children and young people in society.  The training is always delivered by 2 adults and 2 young people.  It is very interactive and gives the participants lots of opportunities to challenge their own thinking about the position children and young people hold in society.   It examines the following issues:

·        The position of young people in society by examining society views on childhood

·        Understanding the concept of dialogue (as opposed to consultation)

·        Understanding what is meant by participation

·        Young people as citizens now

·        Challenging attitudes by presentation and discussion of the above key issues

·        Practical examples in the form of case studies for group discussion

Here are some images from a recent training day for the 5 Boroughs Partnership.
